Learning to Choose

Most of the time Nadya is not interested in what she wears, but occasionally I get a glimpse of my baby becoming a little girl and taking an interest in her appearance. As a way of helping her learn to make choices I give her an option of 2 outfits everyday. I'm pretty sure every time the choice is between a dress/skirt and pants she chooses the dress/skirt!

The other day we went to check out a new hair store in the mall so I decided to buy her some new hair beads. I asked her to choose between the stars and butterflies and without hesitation she chose the stars. But then she saw the headbands and got really excited about them...but not just the one I was holding, specifically the purple headband she saw laying on the shelf. She promises to leave it on her head and not play with it (yeah right!) but for a couple of dollars I'm willing to take the risk of her breaking it just to see her so happy to have chosen her own hair accessory. As soon as we got home she put it back on her head (the promise to leave it on her head in the first place didn't last very long) because she was so excited to show it to her daddy. I don't want her to grow up too quickly, but it is fun to see her mature in these little things.
